System outage

Monday, October 6th, 2003

At 3:13pm PDT today my server’s power supply made a popping noise. At 3:14, all was dark at finninday.net.

By 4:41pm PDT, the server was back up with a shiny new power supply and quite a bit of dust and hair vacuumed out of it. (I shouldn’t keep my computer on the floor, but I do.)

Meanwhile, this week has been the week that we have had to turn the heat on in the car for the first time. The rains have started. The oppression of summer is finally over.

I’m waiting to hear back from a couple of jobs that might actually call me back. As opposed to most of the jobs I’ve applied for in the past few months. I’m hoping to get Intel and OGI into a bidding war over my sysadmin skills. We’ll see about that.
