Setting up wireless for Dad Finnin

Every visit to the inlaws is a chance to set up their wireless hotspot again. Here are the settings so I don't have to figure it out again.

The main complication is the Internet Sharing setup on WinXP that forces you into particular subnets.

Bob's desktop has two interfaces:

• local 192.168.0.1
• public

The tacked-on wifi router is hanging off the local interface through a switch. The wifi router's internet port is connected to that switch.

It may be necessary to do a factory reset on the router. Hold the reset switch for seven seconds.

That puts the router on 192.168.1.1, so you need a device on that network in order to talk to the web gui.

Once you get to gui, make it look like this:

That should do it. Remember to set the password to something better than the default. The default account name is blank and password is admin. Set the SSID and make it not broadcast.
