A tiny black piece of plastic popped out of one of our kitchen cabinets and now the cabinet door wants to close if left open. ==a working hinge== [[File:lower-hinge1.jpg]] [[File:lower-hinge2.jpg]] ==broken hinge== [[File:broken-hinge.jpg]] I'm assuming that I'll have to replace the hinge since the black plastic piece that is missing doesn't look like a replaceable part. Googling for "blum 110 hinge" I found a catalog that included a description of "Compact 33 hinges" with 110 degree opening angle. [[File:hinge-diagram.png]] Googling for "blum hinge compact 33" brought me this handy Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/Blum-Degrees-Knock-Closing-Compact/sim/B0006HF8Z4/2 Which had an enlightening review: ---- <nowiki> Based on my personal experience, I would not choose Compact 33 hinges for cabinets that get daily use because the hinges contain a plastic part that tends to break. In the 10 years since new cabinets with these hinges were installed in my house, the plastic part has broken in 32 hinges out of 58 installed. The cabinet doors still swing after the plastic part breaks, but they will not stay fully open, they will not self-close and they often make a loud cracking sound when opening or closing. </nowiki> ---- But then there was also this: ---- <nowiki> Had the same problem as above with plastic part breaking in about 10 years old Blum Compact 33 series, small overlay, concealed cabinet hinges. Breaks accompanied by popping noise and loose black plastic on floor. The doors then just stay open. Called Blum customer service in Stanley, NC (1 800 438-6788). They were very patient on phone while I removed one hinge and read them the part numbers (120 on door hinge part and 130.110-01.23 on the inside of the cabinet frame mounted plate. Got incredible customer service from Blum. They said they would send ten replacement door hinges, part number 120, via UPS, free of charge. </nowiki> ---- ==part numbers== ===cabinet frame part=== ====inside==== [[File:2014-02-22-100628.jpg]] [[File:Frame-locate.png]] ====outside==== [[File:2014-02-22-103411.jpg]] [[File:Frame-locate.png]] ===cabinet door part=== [[File:2014-02-22-101243.jpg]] [[File:Door-locate.png]] [[File:2014-02-22-101319.jpg]] [[File:Door1-locate.png]] [[File:2014-02-22-101331.jpg]] [[File:Door2-locate.png]] ==Resolution== Called Blum at 1-800-438-6788 and told them I had a broken hinge. They asked what the number on the front was and I told them "110". They didn't ask any other questions about the hinge. Just wanted to know if I had been shipped anything else before. Then took my name and address and said I would have a replacement part in 2 weeks.
